As Emma Beech’ s theatre making practice of having deep and meaningful conversations with strangers continues, her attention has been drawn to the people surrounding Adelaide’s new hub for music, performance and food - LIGHT.
The building that LIGHT now occupies has been many things to many people over the years in Adelaide: a place to get buff, indulge in pleasures, buy steaks or even grab a beer. Fascinated by the weird and wonderful businesses that have called this venue home, Emma is on a mission to find the people who have stories to tell. The walls don’t need to talk, as Emma and guests get into gritty conversations live on stage for your listening pleasure. This will be performance that is part art, part interview and part confessional, perfectly accompanied by your favourite beverage and followed by some soaring tunes. These conversations are the start of a long-term performance project researching, interviewing and presenting the history of LIGHT in Emma’s ‘stand-up documentary’ style. First up – DJ Josh in conversation with Emma Beech, 8.30pm March 25th.
